What is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) ?

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) -- A business management system that integrates all aspects of the business. Sales, finance, quality control, accounting, manufacturing and all other enterprise functions are integrated and managed, usually with the aid of a collection of software applications.  With ERP, each department still has its own software or software modules. The difference is that they can now communicate with each other, as they are all part of the same system.
