Library Inked is an ongoing project to showcase members of the NU community who are proud library users with tattoos!

Lauren Ware is a former corrections officer who served in the U.S. Navy for four years with HSM-75 as an aircraft mechanic. This brought her out to California, where she is currently seeking a Master of Arts in Human Behavior.

Lauren has an amazing assortment of tattoos, which she started getting when she was 18. These tattoos have deep meaning for her, having been inspired by people, beliefs, and experiences in her life. Her tattoos include:

  • Date of her marriage
  • Horoscope sign of her family
  • Tree of Life (Bahrain) - This tree, which is approximately 400 years old, sits alone in the middle of the Arabian desert (more info). Lauren had a chance to go and see this tree in person.
  • Egyptian Eye of Ra - She got this tattoo as symbolic protection for her family.
  • Hamsa hand - Another symbol of protection.
  • Tattoos on her leg - Comprised of pieces from different cultures and religions that she believes in.
  • Face of her dog
  • Paw prints of both of her dogs

Thank you to Lauren for allowing us to share her tattoos with you. Are you a library user with tattoos that you’d like to showcase? We’d love to hear your story!
