School of Health and Human Services (SHHS): Web Resources

The NLM Gateway is a Web-based system that lets users search simultaneously in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). It allows users of NLM services to initiate searches from one Web interface, providing "one-stop searching" for many of NLM's information resources or databases.

Site is run by the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, University of Iowa. Hardin MD features one of the most complete and frequently cited lists for health related subjects. A link to medical pictures is also provided.

Designed for patients and their families MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations on over 800 diseases and conditions. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included along with a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, easy-to-understand tutorials on common conditions, tests, and treatments, and medical videos.

Health Informatics World Wide (www.hiww.org) is a regularly updated index of the most relevant links to websites on Health Informatics (also Medical Informatics, Nursing Informatics). The index focuses on institutions of research and education.
