Sample Searches

Combining Keywords & Phrases 

Use the article searches below as a basis for developing your own customized searches.

To focus on your own research questions, try adding search terms that represent any of these key ideas:

  • Population characteristic: second language, gifted, learning disabled, gender, cultural group, etc.
  • Subject area: science, mathematics, reading, etc.
  • Grade level: kindergarten, elementary, middle school, or high school
  • Possible Outcomes: student attitudes, student motivation, achievement, or rubrics.

Adjusting Results

Using the peer-review filter will limit results to scholarly, evidence-based articles.  It will also eliminate all ERIC Documents (ED#s) from the results list. You may also filter results by publication date, full text availability, source, and more.
