The institutional review board (IRB) approves, monitors, and research involving humans. The purpose of the IRB is to assure that appropriate steps are taken to protect the rights and welfare of humans participating as subjects in a research study.
All principal investigators (students and faculty) are required to complete human subject research training through the CITI: Collaborative Investigator Training Initiative. The passing rate is a cumulative score of 85%. Each module takes about 15 minutes to complete.
