The Institutional Research Board Policies and Procedures Document describes the purpose and functions of the NU IRB, and what you need to know as a principal investigator or faculty sponsor.
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) approves, monitors, and research involving humans. The purpose of the IRB is to assure that appropriate steps are taken to protect the rights and welfare of humans participating as subjects in a research study.
First Step: Complete human subject research training through the CITI: Collaborative Investigator Training Initiative before applying for IRB. This applies to all principal investigators (students and faculty).
The passing rate is a cumulative score of 85%. Each module takes about 15 minutes to complete.
