contact_support Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about course reading lists? See the FAQs below. If you have a question that is not covered in the FAQs, please reach out to us directly.

As the name suggests, course reading lists are simply lists of readings that are assigned in a course for each module or week. This can include information about textbook chapters, as well as links to other readings such as open educational resources (OERs) or e-books and journal articles in library databases.

Course reading lists are created and hosted in a tool called LibGuides. Because a single course reading list is linked in multiple iterations of a course, this allows us to make updates or fix broken links in a single place, and those changes will be reflected in all courses.

If a Brightspace course has a course reading list, there will be a link in the navigation menu that says "Course Resources". Clicking on this link will open the course reading list.

Course reading lists are being created as new courses get developed or existing courses get updated. A learning experience designer (LXD) will work together with the course author to put together the list.

All requests for changes or fixes to a course reading list should be sent to OLIS.
